National English Language Olympiad

On May 5-6 in Klaipėda Vytautas Didysis gymnasium was held National English Language Competition, where more than 80 students from all around Lithuania were competing with each other. Emilija Petrauskaitė from our gymnasium had an opportunity to represent Pagėgiai municipality and take part in this event.

Through two days all the competitors had to do writing and speaking tasks. On the first day of the contest all students were congratulated and welcomed. After the opening ceremony everyone was split to ten classes to do their writing task in where they had to write an article about multipotentialites. After luckily finished task competitors were split to groups and went for sightseeing. When they came back groups needed to prepare postcard about Klaipeda and present it for the audience. The next day every student was greeted with the lists of their monologue and dialogue times. The speaking for many of student caused a bit of stress but after lunch it was finally finished. Furthermore, every student had to participate in the quiz. Lastly students were congratulated and awarded.

The average student got about 70% so did our delegate Emilija Petrauskaite. The more points you got the better prize you deserved. The 1st place won the participant from Mazeikiai Ignas Lapkus and he was the only one to score 100%.

All in all, despite the stress and exhaustion, everybody got to know better English, meet new people and measure their English abilities.
